Aviad “Adi” Haramati, PhD, is Professor of Physiology and Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. His research interests are in renal and electrolyte physiology, but now focuses his activities on medical and health professions education. Dr. Haramati has taught physiology for over 30 years and received institutional and national awards for his research and his teaching. He received NIH funding that supported a broad educational initiative to incorporate integrative medicine into the curriculum at Georgetown, and he co-directs the graduate program in CAM at Georgetown. He is the founding Vice-Chair of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine and chaired several conferences including the 2012 International Research Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health. Dr. Haramati’s interest is to improve medical education across the globe, especially with regard to the intersection of science, mind-body medicine and professionalism and has been a visiting professor at over 50 medical schools.
