Judith Balk, MD MPH FACOG is a gynecologist and acupuncturist in Pittsburgh. She recently left University of Pittsburgh School of and is now the director of Midlife Women’s Health Programs at the West Penn/Allegheny Health System, which is affiliated with the Schools of Medicine at Drexel andTemple University. Dr. Balk completed a K award from NCCAM, and has been focusing her research and clinical practice on the use of integrative medicine in women’s health, specifically in menopause. She has studied the effects of soy on postmenopausal endometrium, soy’s effects on uterine fibroids, acupuncture in infertility, acupuncture for cancer-related fatigue, and yoga’s effects on quality of life in breast cancer survivors. She is a founding member of the UPMC Magee Midlife-Womens Health Center, and the UPMC Holistic cancer center. She was course co-director of the Healer’s Art and the nutrition elective at the Pitt School of Medicine.
