Dr. Mao is Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the Director of Integrative Oncology Initiative at the Abramson Cancer Center. As a board certified family physician and a licensed acupuncturist, he combines eastern and western approaches to treat patients with a specific clinical focus on symptom management for cancer patients and survivors. Dr. Mao’s research program centers on investigating the effects, mechanisms, and integration of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for symptom management among cancer patients and survivors. His research program has been funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
