Like the Soap Box debates in public squares of the past, speakers will have up to five minutes to “get on their soap boxes” and state their opinions about each of three different controversial topics in CAM/IM research and practice.  This will be followed by a moderated debate and discussion with the audience and finally a poll to determine how many in attendance have been convinced by the each speakers’ arguments. This entertaining and highly participatory session will feature soap box speakers arguing: 1) In acupuncture, training in soft skills are JUST AS IMPORTANT AS point location (Claudia Witt), 2) placebos SHOULD BE prescribed in clinical practice (Vinjar Fønnebø), and 3) integrative medicine CANNOT BE practiced by a single practitioner (Heather Boon.  Come and join us in the town square for a lively debate on these controversial topics.
